The Saint Luke's refrigerator sheet for May 27, 2012. May 17, 2012 - 12:22 PM Red Door Record, May 2012
May 2012 issue of the “Saint Luke's Red Door Record.” May 10, 2012 - 1:00 PM Discretionary Funds and SabbaticalDear Folks, During the sabbatical time, there will be no access directly to the Rector's Discretionary Fund. I have left a supply of grocery cards with Lisa for discretionary purposes. That supply is very limited. If you would care to augment that supply during sabbatical, we would ask that you purchase cards in increments of $10 or $25 and place them in the regular offering. We cannot, per IRS regulations, document tax deductions on such contributions, but they would be put to good use should you wish to contribute.May 10, 2012 - 12:37 PM Safety Measures and Policies for St. Luke'sDear Folks,In the aftermath of the shootings at St. Peter's in Ellicot City, Maryland last week, the leadership of the parish wants to remind you of some basic safety measure and alert you to some new wrinkles. On Sundays, the door to the Danker wing is to be kept locked at all times. Entry and egress from the Church building on Sundays should be through the red sanctuary doors only! Locking these doors on Sundays during sabbatical will need to be a priority for the last person who leaves the building. Please use the hex key to unlock and lock the panic bars at the front and side doors whenever worship is held (Wednesday morning and evening, Sundays, Bible study nights). During the day Lisa has been instructed to keep the doors locked and not to answer the door if she is not expecting anyone. She will distribute food cards to folks in need via the mailbox. She has been instructed to leave cards there with the name of the recipient on them. Those looking for care and support will be told not to arrive before 2 pm. If you are planning on coming to the church during the week, please let Lisa know in advance. When entering the building, please make Lisa, or whomever else may be in the building aware of your presence. Let's be safe….. Peace and Good, The Rev. Attached is the Saint Luke’s refrigerator sheet for May 13, 2012 May 8, 2012 - 11:41 AM Sabbatical BlogGreetings Folks; While I am away (May 14-August 14), I will be keeping a blog at http://brigidheartbrendanway.posterous.com This will be a reflection on the sites I see, the people I meet and the disciplines of pilgrimage and hospitality. This is a one-way blog. That means you'll be able to see what I'm doing but there will not be a comments section. My parish email address will have a vacation response on it while I am away and I will not be reading those emails, nor will I be communicating via Facebook other than by the way the blog posts appear there. I hope you understand this part of the sabbatical leave taking. Please know that I will pray for the parish daily and you all by name regularly as I am away. Peace and Good, The Rev. Warren Hicks St. Luke's Episcopal Church 921 Pleasant St. Worcester, MA 01602-1908 508-756-1990 May 5, 2012 - 11:30 AM Sabbatical InformationDear St. Luke's Community; The attached document is an overview of the upcoming sabbatical experience that St. Luke's and I will be entering. There is an outline of how I am approaching my sabbatical experience using St. Brigid and St. Brendan and their lives as guides. There is also an overview of the parish activities that the leadership has planned for the next three months. There is also a schedule of worship including those who are to supply at Eucharist for us weekly on Sundays and once a month with the Wednesday congregation. Finally, there is a page outlining the protocol for emergency pastoral care. The basic rule of thumb is this; contact Lisa during office hours in case of emergency. If she is unavailable you can contact Linda O'Reilly or Deacon Jane and they will respond as necessary. Be well…
